Back to School with Essential Oils
It’s unreal that it is back to school time already, isn’t it? I want a summer do-over! I’m sure you have gotten those back to school supplies lists from your teachers already. Here are some back to school essentials that probably did not make that list. Let’s go back to school essential oil style! Here are 5 easy to go back to school with essential oils.
Melaleuca (Tea Tree): If you have small children, having your child bring home unwanted hitchhikers is probably on your list of biggest fears. I know how awful it is to sit for hours combing nits out of long hair. Add a drop to your shampoo or conditioner to help keep the creepy crawlies away.
InTune (Focus Blend): Apply to back of the neck to promote a sense of focus and concentration. For those who have difficulty with attention issues, this oil supports efforts to stay on task. I and several of my co-workers use this essential oil blend in the afternoons when we start to feel that afternoon crash or drag. Teachers: place a few drops on a clay ornament and place on a desk or in an area of the classroom. Do not diffuse this oil as it does contain some carrier oil. Although it contains some carrier oil, it is still not diluted enough for my standards. I tend to disperse this oil over 4 new roller bottles and top with carrier oil for any topical use.
Balance (Grounding Blend): If you or your student tend to experience anxious feelings, apply balance to the bottoms of the feet. This blend should also be diluted according to dilution guidelines as it has very little carrier oil added (See more about diluting your essential oils here). This essential oil blend may help establish a sense of calmness, peace, and relaxation (a good alternate for this purpose is Peace Blend). This blend is not for use in a diffuser.
Peppermint: Keep peppermint on hand to assist in alleviating symptoms of head tension. Dilute in a roller bottle and apply to forehead, temples, back of neck. *
Clary Calm (Women’s Monthly Blend): This blend is a must-have for young women. This blend is known to contain essential oils that are known to help sooth symptoms associated with PMS, menopause, and aging. Apply to ouside of ankles and over ovaries. Again, this blend is not diluted. You may want to dilute prior to use. This blend is not meant for use in a diffuser. **
