Well, hello there. I am so glad we have crossed paths in this crazy, discombobulated cyber world! Here is a bit about me:
I am a 43 year old mom who co-parents three young ladies, ages 19, 17, and 13. They are the center of my universe! I am remarried to the man of my dreams and we share our home with my daughters, Laura, Gabby, and Molly, our two goldendoodles, Cooper and Champ (aka Schmoop), and three felines, Seuss, Sophie (he’s male), and Cersei (aka Sweet Pea). Our lives are busy, active, structured (usually), chaotic, and full! One child is a college sophomore, one is a high school junior juggling two jobs, year-round sports activities, and her studies, and one is a seventh grader who loves sports and seems to struggle a bit with acceptance from others.
I am an avid mental health advocate. My daughter, Laura has dealt with social anxiety from a young age, and still struggles with it daily as she navigates a very large college campus and is faced with new challenges daily. My daughter, Gabby is severely depressed, often suicidal, and self harms when stressed. She faces generalized anxiety disorder, major depression, and I also suspect, borderline personality disorder. She was hospitalized three times in 2017 due to her mental illnesses, but we are proud to say it has now been over a year since her last hospitalization.
We work daily at keeping a healthy environment for healing in all ways: the food we eat, the ways in which we speak and react to others, and the products we use in our home. While we certainly aren’t perfect, we are constantly learning and growing and adopting new ideas.
Using essential oils has become a HUGE part of our daily routines. They have allowed us to ditch many toxic products in our home while supporting our emotions, brains, and bodies at the same time. We also believe in the power of Western medicine when needed! We incorporate essential oils along with psychotherapy and medications and both our mental health practitioner and pediatrician are fully on board with essential oil use and even use them personally.
The bottom line is, life is HARD dammit. We’re all just wandering around trying to live our best lives. Hopefully we learn a thing or two in the process. And hopefully, as we wander, we love hard on each other.
