Essential Oil Dilution 101
Essential Oil 101 Series
If you have looked into essential oils at all, you have probably heard about dilution of your essential oils. It is of utmost importance to keep safety in mind when using essential oils, and dilution is the key component.
What does it mean to dilute my essential oil?
Dilution is the act of making an essential oil less concentrated.
Why is it important to dilute essential oils?
Some people can experience an adverse reaction to an essential oil, and this happens a lot more often when the essential oil has not been diluted. It is important to dilute all oils, especially when trying them for the first time. It is particularly important to dilute any time you plan to use an essential oil children under 6, the elderly, or individuals with a compromised immune system. Dilution also slows the absorption rate of your essential oil so you reap the benefits over a longer period of time.
How do I dilute my essential oils?
When preparing to use an essential oil topically, it is important to add a carrier oil. There are many different carrier oils to choose from, but the most popular is fractionated coconut oil. Some DoTERRA essential oils come pre-diluted in Touch rollers (Ex: oregano, frankincense, Breathe, DigestZen), but you can also make your own. Purchase 10ml roller bottles HERE, fill with carrier oil, and add the desired amount of oil(s) for your needs.
Enjoy this Sleep Tight roller blend, and don’t forget to fill the rest of your roller bottle with a carrier oil!
